Application Modernization
Matías Creimerman - Buenos Aires, Argentina - 2019-11-01

In the future of work, cloud technologies, new devices, mobiles, big data, artificial intelligence, IoT, robots, machine learning, etc. are forcing to all companies to adapt to this new technologies.

The accelerated pace in which progress is made involves adapting quickly, changing the old infrastructures and the traditional ways of developing applications. If a company does not adopt the change, it becomes a brake for its own growth.

In the future of work, the application modernization then, is crucial for companies to achieve new value to their businesses from legacy applications, updating them with new features, services and infrastructure for connecting with customers and clients.

The application modernization is take the current solutions and adjust them to the new paradigm of the future of work.

To update these legacy systems, it’s necessary to re-platform, re-hosting, re-coding, re-factoring, re-architecting and re-building to replace them.

This does not mean doing everything from scratch, but it’s leveraging legacy systems to re-adapt them to new technologies and needs. In cases where the systems were not updated a long time ago or didn’t already have technologies of the last 5-10 years, it’s likely that they will have to start over.

The main pain point around application modernization are the legacy applications, aging infrastructure and the lack of agility.

The main advantages of application modernization are cost avoidance, staff productivity and customer experience.
